Scooter Murphy - Space Marshal

An original feature screenplay by David R. Wilcox

A rare original family action property with a Black-Irish girl lead, a built-in army of nine-year-olds, and a third act that ends with a multi-ton fiberglass planet coming down in a parking lot. Designed as animation, fully viable as a live-action/VFX hybrid, and engineered for franchise — the maniacal emperor is still out there, and he has just canceled his spa day to handle Earth personally.

Story brief

Synopsis

Tressa "Scooter" Murphy is ten, purple-haired, and armed with a plastic ray gun, a tin star badge, and a Razor scooter. Her mother works night shifts in an ER. Her only friends tease her mercilessly. So every evening she becomes the roughest, toughest Space Marshal in the galaxy and posts her mission reports online, where almost nobody reads them. Almost. Two agencies read them. One is a government bureau that watches its own citizens for a living. The other is on a planet called Galaxia, where a vain and murderous emperor named Galax is three weeks out from invading Earth — and cannot stand that one small child keeps writing about him as though he's beatable. Both send someone to silence her. And the deadliest of them isn't a spy at all, but something older and hungrier that has already been quietly harvesting Scooter's neighbors — every one of them a customer of Saturn Burger, the spreading fast-food chain whose drive-thru kiosks laser-scan your face while you order a Black Hole Burger. By the time Scooter understands what she's walked into, she's lost her friends, lost her nerve, and been laughed out of a police station. Every adult in her life has told her she made it up. Then the black van comes for the two kids who trusted her. So she sits down at the computer that started all of this and posts one line to a blog nobody takes seriously: THIS IS NOT A DRILL — I NEED EVERY COOKIE CADET IN THE CITY. TONIGHT. Across town, phones light up. Textbooks slam shut. Sashes are tested. Duffel bags are loaded with Skinny Mints like ammunition. And a troop leader with a clipboard floors a church van into the night.

Tone
Loud, funny, kid-empowering summer adventure with real teeth — Spy Kids energy, Gremlins nerve, and a genuinely frightening monster underneath the burger franchise.
Setting
Present-day American suburbia — a bedroom marked SCOOTER'S HQ, a chain of chrome-and-purple fast-food restaurants, and the throne room of a preening alien emperor.
